I have been working in Social Care since 2001 and started as an Enabler and then a Support worker, supporting women with Learning Disabilities to live Independently.

Shortly after this I moved into Supported Housing where I worked for a Social Registered Landlord supporting people to move into housing accommodation with Care and Support.

I have a vast amount of experience in managing various care and support contracts across Local authorities whether spot purchase of block contracts and in multi-disciplinary working to meet people needs.

I have worked in various housing with care and support settings; in housing management and developing and setting up extra care and supported living services and I have managed Registered Care homes and been Dom Care registered.

With all the above said and done the bottom line is that I care deeply about empowering people who may be overlooked due to their disability.

I think we all have the right to a comfortable home, social access and choice about the way we live our lives without imposing our choices upon others.

Social Care is a people’s business and so inter-personal skills are key and in leaderships so is equity!

In my spare time beside spending quality time with my family, I like to travel to explore countries, cities, history and different cultures.

With a career that has spanned 40 years, I have worked across both the NHS and private sector in learning disabilities, mental health and elderly services; I believe that we have a responsibility to ensure that we support every individual to achieve their best life, that we are open transparent and treat everyone with dignity and respect.
