I began working with people with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health needs over 20 years ago. After starting as a support worker, I moved into project management in the charities sector before taking time out to study and become a Registered Social Worker and Learning Disabilities Nurse.

For many years I was a Registered Manager in supported living services and loved it! In 2014 I completed a master’s with the Centre for Disability Studies at Leeds, which guided by interest towards practice and quality development. Since then, I have held quality assurance roles, and I joined the team at Accedo in 2020.

I enjoy helping people develop, pub quizzes and live music.

Graduate in Ba Hons Textiles degree, I diversified my interest in interior decoration by joining the team at Curocare Ltd whereby I was involved in the builds of several hospitals & residential services, furnishing & getting ready for opening.

I then went on to join Accedo Care Ltd assisting in the opening of new supported living services. Further support is provided by onboarding new tenants into their rental homes, ensuring their homes are ready & working closely with the landlords surrounding up keep of the properties.

I have been working in Social Care since 2001 and started as an Enabler and then a Support worker, supporting women with Learning Disabilities to live Independently.

Shortly after this I moved into Supported Housing where I worked for a Social Registered Landlord supporting people to move into housing accommodation with Care and Support.

I have a vast amount of experience in managing various care and support contracts across Local authorities whether spot purchase of block contracts and in multi-disciplinary working to meet people needs.

I have worked in various housing with care and support settings; in housing management and developing and setting up extra care and supported living services and I have managed Registered Care homes and been Dom Care registered.

With all the above said and done the bottom line is that I care deeply about empowering people who may be overlooked due to their disability.

I think we all have the right to a comfortable home, social access and choice about the way we live our lives without imposing our choices upon others.

Social Care is a people’s business and so inter-personal skills are key and in leaderships so is equity!

In my spare time beside spending quality time with my family, I like to travel to explore countries, cities, history and different cultures.
